Pearly Shells

Besides shrimp, I was never a fan of shellfish. I used to find them a chore to eat – lots of himayan before you can actually get enough meat to eat. I guess I can chalk that up to low EQ, hehe!

But then, I’ve never had Maryland Blue Crabs before. And since that fateful day when my hubby brought me to Obrycki’s in Baltimore, I’ve happily bequeathed my love for shrimps to my daughter and found a new love in those gorgeous pearly-shelled pinchers.

marylandcrabs
Obrycki’s steamed blues. The crabs that changed my life. :)

And I didn’t stop there. I was lovin’ crabs in all shapes and sizes.

stonecrabs
Miami’s famous stone crabs from Joe’s.

Happy blue crabs from Pinchers in Naples, FL.

snow-crabs
Steamed snow crab legs courtesy of Costco, hehe!

But most importantly, I also learned how to cook ‘em myself.

gata
My luscious fresh crabs (straight from the farmers market) steamed then sauteed in coconut cream.  A household favorite. :)

Now let’s bring out the antihistamine. :)

I wish I could buy crabs here! Wahhhh!

That antihistamine phrase was funny! Since I came to the US, I have been suffering yearly (up to 6 months duration) from allergies, mainly from environmental allergens (can’t pinpoint which), and also the harsh soaps in the hospital. I just hope I will never develop an allergic reaction to anything seafood!
