Silogs

Si and Log, short for SInangag (Fried Rice) and itLOG (egg), is the quintessential Filipino breakfast. As you will notice, should you take the time to make the rounds of the other Lasang Pinoy Sundays participants, you can add any meat to the fried rice and egg combo and, voila, a silog meal!

This one below, for example, is a hotsilog (hotdog-silog). Or, a tuysilog (dried fish-silog). Or a tuyhotsilog (the combination of all of the stuff on my plate).

The best way to start the day

With a side of minced green mangoes and tomatoes and an added dash of sauteed shrimp paste, or even just a simple dollop of sweet banana ketchup, and you know you’re starting the day with the entire diet pyramid under your belt.
