When it comes to finger food, there’s one major box-office hit for my family.
CALAMARI.
And you can tell how much we love it just by seeing how often we order it whenever we eat out.

Calamari at Cafe Luna (Naples, FL)

Calamari at 15th St. Fisheries (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

Calamari at Pho Quyen (Tampa, FL)

Calamari at Sunset Pier (Key West, FL)
Plus, give or take a dozen more undocumented ones.
We’ve come across all sorts of fried calamari: salty ones, bland ones, soggy ones, crispy ones, tentacle-y ones, chewy ones, fishy-smelly ones, teeny-weeny ones, huge ones, doesn’t-look-like-calamari ones and whatever-have-you ones. It’s just an adventure every time. (And, given all the cholesterol involved, a call for immediate life insurance quotes, heehee!)
You know how some people gauge the quality of the restaurant by their wine? Ours is through their calamari.
Oh, and by the way, in the Philippines, we don’t call them Calamari but Calamares. *wink*
