My Top Ten Songs From The 90s

Haze tagged me with this meme a long time ago. I actually found this tag cute and really really wanted to do it asap. Unfortunately, life got in the way… :)

So anyway, Haze asked me to list down my top ten 90′s songs. Only ten? Whew, would I even remember what music I liked a decade ago? And if I did, would I be able to list down only ten?

We’ll see. *wink*

Aside from ten songs that could alone come from the Eraserheads, True Faith, GNR, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Everything But The Girl, Alanis Morissette, etc. (which I am not going to include anymore), off the top of my head, these are some singles which I really loved during the nineties (not in any particular order), all the more made memorable because of the memories they carry in my heart.

1. Hard To Handle (The Black Crowes)
:: I just love the beat of this song. It actually inspired me to pick up a pair of drumsticks and learn how to play.

2. Linger (The Cranberries)
:: I still keep deluding myself that I could sing this song. I won’t blame you if you keep thinking: Do you have to?

3. Building a Mystery (Sarah McLachlan)
:: A classmate of mine gave a cassette tape of Surfacing to me before our summer classes ended, and I just fell for this album so much. Sadly, I haven’t seen or heard from my ex-classmate since.

4. Barely Breathing (Duncan Sheik)
:: A childhood friend of mine suddenly played this on his car stereo once when I hitched a ride home. I was so surprised because, all the time I’ve known him, I have always thought of him as musically-challenged. Apparently, he really turned out to be quite a cool guy. :)

5. I’ll Be (Edwin McCain)
:: Even before acoustic performers made this song a most requested tune in the lounge circuit, it has always been a favorite of mine. Too bad I had no boyfriend then, this could have been my love song for him, hehe.

6. More Than Words (Extreme)
:: Who in my country does not know this song?

7. High Enough (Damn Yankees)
:: One of the many songs that I loved, secretly. I can come out now, hehe.

8. Change The World (Eric Clapton)
:: My knees weaken when I meet a guy who can play the guitar, and play it well. No one came close to Eric though. Until I met my husband. *wink*

9. Kiss From A Rose (Seal)
:: One of those ethereal songs you could never forget once you hear it. Even better than free search engine optimization marketing, hehe!

10. Beautiful Stranger (Madonna)
:: I realized that after all these years, she can still make me dance.

Well, that’s it for now. I could have listed ten more but maybe I’ll just reserve that for the next time someone asks me to make a list again.

That was a great trip down memory lane. :)

(Please wait a while for the playlist to appear, hehe. Thanks!)
