Before we left Houston last year, we had the best farewell dinner at Goode Co Bbq. It was literally the last yummy taste of Texas that we took with us as we moved to Miami.
And now that we’ve also recently moved out of Miami, we decided that we would have our farewell dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab. Hailed as an institution in Miami, there was no other place we’d rather choose. And since it’s also included in the book 1000 Places To See Before You Die, it was a pretty good opportunity to cross another destination off our list.

Shot from a moving vehicle. Super excited, can you tell?
We expected a long wait time for dinner but the gods smiled down on us because we were immediately seated. We loved the service here, too. The wait staff were all pretty wonderful. For a pretty expensive place, everyone was so warm and helpful.
Please excuse the photos, the lights were pretty dim inside the restaurant.

Bread for starters. .

Ninna’s customary New England Clam Chowder. She loves chowder, as you can probably tell by now, but this one, she just devoured in minutes!

Guess what her main course is?? Fried shrimp basket, of course. They don’t have portions for kids so we ended up taking home half of the basket because Ninna was mostly full from her soup.

I caught it before it totally disappeared from his plate, haha! Hubby’s (almost finished) Blackened Grilled Tuna. Or was it Salmon. (yikes) It had a side of sweet potatoes which was pretty interesting. I couldn’t care very much about what hubby ate because…

Here’s my order. Joe’s famous chilled stone crab claws. Pretty simple and straighforward, and Joe’s mustard sauce was the best partner for it. I finished all seven claws by myself. (I let hubby take a small bite, too. For the experience, haha!)

Room for dessert, always. Warm chocolate lava cake a la mode.
Did I mention it was pretty expensive here? Between the three of us, we paid like a hundred bucks for our dinner, yikes. But you really can’t beat the experience of coming here and truly enjoying a piece of Miami. I’ll forever grasp that experience tightly in the claws of my memory.
