On one of our rarer than rare date nights, hubby and I planned on dinner and a movie. Our destination was The Oasis at the Sawgrass Mills Mall, since this particular area of Sawgrass housed a strip of shops and restaurants, as well as a movie theater. And so, since we were in the mood for some seafood, we decided to try Legal Seafoods. With a reputation of being “The Best Seafood Restaurant in America” (according to NBC Today Show), being one of the “Top 10 Tried-and-True Restaurants in America” (according to Bon Appetit), as well as having the honor of serving its legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981, our expectations were high.

The ambiance was nice, the place was clean, and we were seated immediately 9for a Friday night!). We started with their Seafood Antipasto, which I of course forgot to take a picture of because the dish looked so tempting that hubby and I had to dig in. It was a yummy platter of grilled shrimp, calamari, marinated clams, mussels and provolone over mixed greens. I’ll leave it up to you to imagine. :)

And then, for my main course, I had the Nutty Wild Salmon.

Almond encrusted salmon, sautéed in a lemon caper butter sauce with mushroom ravioli and spinach.

And my hubby had a Blackened Grilled Snapper.

Served with his choice of white rice and fried plantains.

Despite my salmon’s nice presentation, I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I felt that the lemon butter sauce overpowered my salmon a bit. However, hubby’s snapper was perfect. By the end of dinner, hubby and I switched plates and, since he loved lemony food, he thoroughly enjoyed my dish while I finished off his fish, hehe.

All in all, it was a good choice. It’s a little pricey, though, so date with caution. :)

uyy, mukhang masarap ah! but i am really wondering why you gave it a mere 3.

btw, our fave date place is gulliver’s. we went to the house of minis kasi the rain was pouring and the parking at gullivers sucks.

have a great week!

hi dyes, kasi the food was quite pricey tapos wala naman masyadong special with the plating and all. medyo overrated pa nga in fact. the food was nice and fresh, which i really appreciated, pero with that same quality, you can get a lot more from somewhere else. :) yun lang. ~m
